Illinois cop's strange passing may have uncovered twofold life
The "precisely organized suicide" of an Illinois cop who powers said made his passing resemble a homicide may have in the process uncovered his twofold life as a thief who asked about procuring a hit man to execute a town overseer who he dreaded would uncover him.
Analyst Chris Covelli said Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz sent a content in April requesting that a lady contact a "high-positioning posse part to put a hit on the town administrator." Gliniewicz likewise messaged that maybe the hit man could "plant something" on the supervisor, Covelli said.
Anne Marrin, the town's first expert head, was inspecting Fox Lake's accounts, including the Police Pilgrims program that powers say Gliniewicz covertly stole from for a long time. Agents discovered little bundles of cocaine in his work area, "not connected to any case that we could discover," and trust the 30-year veteran officer may have looked to outline the administrator as a medication criminal before she uncovered him as a thief, the investigator said.
"We never discovered any clarification why those medications were in his work area at the police headquarters," Covelli said.
Late Thursday, the town executive who police said was the objective said the case is "practically strange."
